The main objective of this study is to know to what extent the Algerian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are practically using Information Systems (IS) as a strategic tool in their management practices, particularly using them to conduct a clearly environmental analysis and to support strategic decision-making processes. A case study at Chiali Profiplast Company in Setif Wilaya is conducted to study the nature of IS adopted by managers and to know to what extent these IS can help them to run strategically their company. The results have shown that Chiali Profiplast Company possesses an integrated IS that consists of all the key components (hardware, software, database, networks, and people), and it is effectively used by managers to support all the activities in the value chain, allowing them to identify the strengths and weaknesses in the internal environment of the company. In contrast, we found that using IS to support external environment analysis process is still less effective than it should be. The results of the study have also shown that the CEO of the company could benefit significantly from using a personalized digital dashboard to support strategic decision-making within the company.المراجع
